Day 113: The Water Palace

Post from Tim:

The Sultan of Yogyakarta built the Water Palace around 1760. It contained a fantastic collection of bathing areas, pools, waterways, and buildings.

The water is now gone, thanks to an earthquake in the 1900's. The lake that once held the royal boat is full of homes and many of the buildings have been reduced to rubble. But the Water Palace still holds (dry) bathing areas, stone corridors, and a mosque.

We walked though a series of dark stone corridors to get to the mosque. It was quiet, secluded, and gave me just a hint of treading off into the past.
